Fly

As I looked out of the window of my 7th floor hotel room, I fixed my eyes on a large white bird flying straight towards me. It was at eye level, seemingly aiming straight for my head. Just as I got nervous, it turned away and joined several others soaring through the sky. I was captivated by the ease in which these birds were flying. 

They didn’t need to fast & pray in order to fly well. They didn’t need to read their bibles for an hour each day. They have been created to fly. Now, fasting, praying & reading our bibles is beneficial and necessary to our walk with Jesus. But, sometimes God has to remind me that his goodness is cannot be earned.  

Right before I looked out and saw the bird come toward me, I was praying. I was feeling nervous about a message I was going to preach. I asked God to help me do a good job. I believe God used that bird to teach me a lesson. In my heart, I heard God say birds fly because I created them to do so & You preach because I created you to do so. Just as easy as you see these birds flying, you can just as easily preach. I will never forget that. I needed it. Now every time I preach I see those beautiful white birds soaring with ease doing what they’ve been created to do & I know that I can do what God has called me to do. 

What are you nervous about? Is it you job, your goals, your dreams? Whatever it is, if God has put it in your heart to do, he has given you the ability to do it. Stop feeling nervous, stop doubting yourself, stop delaying your dreams. Just like birds have been created to fly, you have been created for something great. Spread you wings & fly.
